Question of the Day:
I want to try some roleplaying with my lover, but I’m not sure how to get started. It seems so silly to play pretend, but I know that a lot of people have fun with these kind of games. How do you get into the role without laughing at yourself or making it weird?
Angel’s Point of View:
You never know what games you might enjoy when you get started, but keeping an open mind is always the best advice.
Change the area around you. It’s hard to get into a fantasy when reality is staring you in the face. Play the discreet lovers role by renting a room at a seedy motel and booking under “John Smith”. Decorate your bedroom with curtains, throws, and lots of pillows for an Arabian Nights theme.
Costumes are also a great tool. If you dress like a masked bandit, it is easier to play one than if you were wearing a polo shirt and khakis. Get my drift.
The right tools also help. A paddle if you are playing the disciplinarian, medical gear if you are playing a doctor, or a giant lollipop for a schoolgirl. Sex toys can be worked into the scene creatively. I you have trouble coming up with ideas, try picking up a few adult movies and watching them together.
